This is the third year running that Tom Flook has compiled an annual report on asset seizure and forfeiture statistics in Michigan. As far as we know, this is the only annual report of its kind. Each year, Tom requests the raw forfeiture statistics for each Michigan state police agency, under the Freedom of Information Act, and then he inputs it into a computer and crunches the numbers himself to produce the annual reports. This page also tells how you can do the same kind of audit for your state. We welcome similar efforts by concerned citizens in other states.
