Joe Partansky spoke to Eli Zhadanov today and obtained the
following:

Sam began his hunger strike today.  He petitioned twice for a
medical furlough last fall, but was given no response either
time.

Eli says the judge that should receive letters urging a furlough
be granted is:

Joe was able to reach a public affairs person with the prison
system and asked him some procedural questions regarding
prisoners that stage hunger strikes.  The system procedures in
general are:

1.  Yank person out of current facility
2.  Put them in medical facility
3.  If this doesn't result in them eating -- force feed them
