On September 7, 1994, our home was raided by various enforcement officers from local, state, and federal agencies. Quite a bit of property was seized. Apparently we were part of an extensive investigation. The search warrant for our property was obtained because of an informants allegation that we handled huge quantities of methamphetamines. One of our neighbors and close friends was arrested and plead guilty to some of the counts against him. We, however, are not now involved with drugs, nor have we ever been. The problem lies with the "system." Currently they have property of ours that has a value of approximately $25,000.00.
They have told us that if we sign over this property to them they will leave us alone and let us have our life back. However, if we fight their charges, they will then attach all of our assets, including our home, and it will be up to us to prove our innocence. We can do that. In fact, they would have a hard time proving us to be guilty of anything. They have tried several times to entrap us with people wearing wires. When they raided our home with appx. 50 officers, mine sweepers, the national guard, drug dogs, etc. they found no evidence of any kind of drug usage or manufacturing. Nor did they find any excessive firearms or cash.
However, the catch 22 of this situation is: if we go to court to defend
ourselves, it will cost us more to defend our properties than the things
they now are asking for. Because they are the federal government, when
we are found innocent, as we are sure we would be, we have no way to recoup
our costs. We are just out the fees. I am sure this is how they get away
seizing and keeping property of people that are never even charged with
a crime. (we have never been charged, nor arrested.) Sound like
