Forfeiture Endangers American Rights Foundation (FEAR)

FEAR is a non-profit organization approved by the IRS as a charitable organization under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Donations are tax deductible. Please donate so we can continue providing information and self-help materials that victims and first time forfeiture lawyers need to navigate the complex and esoteric forfeiture laws and procedures - and lobby for reform of asset forfeiture laws to require a criminal conviction.

FEAR also publishes low cost legal self-help manuals and other materials to assist forfeiture lawyers and pro se forfeiture victims in defending cases. See Publications. Profits from the sales of these materials keep the organization afloat, while helping victims defend their cases.

The recession has required FEAR to drastically cut back its services. We no longer have any support staff, and no volunteers are available to give free legal advice, so we disconnected the phone.  If you need to contact FEAR use the email contact button. 

If you are looking to hire a forfeiture lawyer, please check the attorneys in the FEAR Attorney Directory.  These attorneys do not work for FEAR.  They each set their own policies about whether they are willing to give free legal advice, so check their listings before calling them.   FEAR can not vouch for the credentials of any lawyer who advertises on the attorney directory, so please check their credentials for yourself.  However, we have not had any complaints. Some of the lawyers listed have long been known to FEAR for their knowledge and experience, and we believe them all to be worth considering as you search for representation.
